Cookie Swap Goodness

December 14, 2009

My friend JenniferB had her annual Post Modern Tea and Cookie Swap today – one of my favorite events of the holiday season.   This year instead of the New South Wales Holly Painted Flowering Jamsters, I decided to go with something different a little less painstaking.

They are called Trios and they are like regular jam thumbprints, except you make smaller balls of dough and indent them with a wooden spoon handle instead of your thumb.  Then you put three of them together in a triangle and fill each with a different flavor of jam – raspberry, apricot and strawberry.  Elegant and colorful!

And here’s the result of the exchanging:

There’s all sort of fabulous goodies in there, like spritz cookies, pumpkin spice cookies, peanut butter coookies stuffed with Rolos, peanut butter cups and Kisses, and something made from Corn Flakes with a cherry on top.

We also enjoyed Jennifer’s fabulous hospitality with assorted fine teas, of course, plus lovely tea snacks, like actual crustless cucumber sandwiches, a caramelized onion tart, cream puffs, and Magnolia Bakery style cupcakes.  And a fine time was had by all, with conversation ranging from weird dreams, to food allergies, recipes, non-practical footwear and inappropriate times to vomit.  It’s a post modern tea.  Discussions of vomit are allowed.

We all went home with lovely goodie bags too…

Homemade marshmallows, a gorgeous candy cane and some fancy hot chocolate mix.  I have to say, I have never been a big marshmallow fan but maybe that’s because I never had a homemade one – they are delicious!

So, thank you, Jennifer, for inviting me and thanks to all of the other guests for your great looking cookies and an enjoyable afternoon with friends.

I definitely need a cookie swap party. Look soooo yummy. Maybe JenniferB will read this comment and get me on next year’s guest list! 😉

PB cookies stuffed with Rolos???? Simply brilliant. I’ll be trying that this weekend.

She made them in mini muffin tins, so the pb dough sort of hugs the candy.
