Housekeeping, Awesomeness and an Inaugral Giveaway!!

October 7, 2009

First, I would like to thank everyone for the warm welcome for my new blog!   It’s great to see some familiar names here.  I’d like to let you all know that I love reading comments, but I can’t respond during the day.  So, I’m definitely not ignoring you, and I’ll try to respond in the evenings or in my next post.  Oh, and because my sister commented and didn’t like her quilt square avatar on her comment, I have changed them to funky little monsters so enjoy!

The picture in the previous post was actually taken three years ago in my fabulous 2000 square foot kitchen with floor to ceiling windows, a fabulous view of the courtyard and endless 5-gallon vats of AP flour!!  HA HA HA!!!!  No, really, that was taken during a hobby class I took at the Connecticut Culinary Institute.  Which, apparently is now called the Lincoln Culinary Institute and they don’t seem to offer hobby classes any more.  Boo on you, Lincoln.

Also, a day late last night, we watched the season finale of Entourage on HBO, which has inexplicably become one of my favorite shows.  And, it featured one of the best scenes I have ever seen on television!  Observe the awesomeness, but you might want to do it at home – this clip is NSFW!

Ari Gold, living out the ultimate workplace revenge fantasy!  He bought out the company he used to work for and not only rampages through the place firing everyone he doesn’t like, but shooting them with paintballs at the same time!!  Awesome.  It’s even better than what the stapler guy does in Office Space, but I won’t spoil that for you if you haven’t seen it yet.

And finally, as promised – a giveaway!!  To celebrate the start of Bread & Putter, I am giving away a brand new unread hardcover copy of Julie & Julia, the book!

Did you see the movie yet? You should! It’s delightful. Meryl Streep, of course, is brilliant as Julia Child and Julie Powell is one of the biggest reasons I am a food blogger. So – how do you win this fab prize? In a nod to one of my other favorite bloggers, The Pioneer Woman, it’s a caption contest!

The above photo is just crying out for a witty caption! Leave your best idea in the comments and I will pick a winner based on originality and humor or whatever else appeals to me! All entries must be posted by midnight Eastern time, Monday, October 12th. Winner will be announced Tuesday.

So, go forth and comment. The glory and the book could be yours!

I don’t have an awesome caption yet, but I will come up with one, even if I’m excluded from winning because it’d look like nepotism or something.

Pretty cool you are already offering schwag to bribe us with though!

Socks on the dog? He does not look happy about that fashion statement. It’s as if he’s saying “Go ahead, say something, I dare you!”

My diabolical plot for revenge for putting these things on my feet will start by me pooping on the kitchen floor then maybe for good measure, the living room carpet!

brc – you can enter as many times as you’d like

Sharon – those aren’t socks, they are boots! They are these little rubber bootie things that you tighten on their foot with a velcro strap. I bought them for him last winter for those single-digit days when the little ice bits were getting stuck between his pads.

    Keep the captions coming, everyone!!
